OCS Industries Inc. is built on a solid Environmental Health and Safety foundation
that would match the foundation of any project we build. Our focus has been helping our employees utilize solid safety processes that we have established as a company – processes that allow our employees to work safely. Training, planning, proper selection and use of PPE and equipment; learning to make the correct safety decisions; and having the right and responsibility to stop any unsafe operations are just a few of the safety processes our employees use every day.
Through extensive hands-on and classroom-based training, we equip our employees with the skills needed to safely construct all of our projects. Throughout the year Senior Management at OCS shuts down the company and brings all the employees into our main office to conduct the training. The training is conducted by our EH&S Director along with various members of the senior management team. We also bring in outside experts and vendors to conduct specific training. In addition to this training, all trade employees are required to take the OSHA 10 Hr. course and all foreman and project management are required to take the OSHA 30 Hr. course. In 2016, we received the Gold Shovel Standard Certification. Gold Shovel Standard is a safety certification and rating system for companies that perform excavation work. Companies that are Gold Shovel Standard certified have policies and procedures related to excavation safety which, when followed, make a certified company unlikely to cause damage to buried infrastructure. More specifically, our company’s policies and procedures have been audited to meet the specific requirements of the Gold Shovel Standard program.
